2 Hour Horse Safari in Plettenberg Game Reserve
- About 2 hours
Experience the magic of the African bush with a two-hour horse safari on our 2,200 hectare reserve at the foothills of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. Our knowledgeable game rangers will enthral you with interesting facts about the wildlife you will view on your safari.
Your most memorable African experience will be a horseback safari at Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve. There is no better way to view the game which, accustomed to the presence of the horses, will allow them within very close range. On horseback you can go where vehicles have no access and are free to roam with the game or track them down. Feel the grass and bush brush past you, breathe in the fresh air around you and listen to the sounds of Africa.
On the two-hour horse safari guests are accompanied by an experienced and knowledgeable game ranger, keen to share his insights with you. Our horses are well-schooled and friendly and will provide a comfortable, easy ride for even the most inexperienced riders.
Plett Game Reserve is now home to all five of Africa’s famous Big 5, with the recent arrival of elephants to complement the buffaloes, rhinos, leopards and lions. You will also encounter many species of antelope, giraffe, zebra, hippo and crocodiles.
Birdlife at the game reserve is also abundant, as are the smaller buck and other wild animals that inhabit this protected area of the Garden Route. Our experienced rangers are always happy to impart information on any of the wild animals you spot.

Hi all! Enjoyed a fantastic game drive yesterday with game ranger, Kiewiets who was brilliant! Saw big 5 and more... and he expected to spot the Park's 10 buffalo for us but they didn't appear where he hoped they would but to share that we've just spotted 8!!!! Just drove through from the lodge on our way out and there they were. If you're quick you'll get to see them too. We drove off the road toward them, kept our distance. They were all lying down but stood up one by one as they heard our van. Day made!!!🤗👍🏽👍🏽
Great little game reserve to stop off at on your garden route your! Will be great day out for family and friends
Beautiful...except that you have to pay R800 pp to see the animals...def an international rourist destination
We were visiting in the winter, so we were lucky enough to have a vehicle and guide to ourselves. It was relatively easy to see the various animals in the park, white rhino (with a baby when were there), elephants, hippo, waterbuck, Thompson gazelles, gnu, and in separate smaller paddocks fenced with electric fences, a single lioness, four wild dogs and two cheetahs.
So plenty to see on the two hour drive.
Interesting lodge with bar and very basic catering - just a "breakfast" type menu - mainly fried. Lovely outdoor space and play area for children. Nice view over a dam.
Did not stay went on the 2 hour game drive, dissatisfied as as no predators included. Informed at commencement of drive that the predators not included was a shock as never mentioned during booking.
Offering the big 5 and only seeing 2 is poor given the price
Very nice game drive with a lot of animals. I saw rhynos walking free few meters from us close to the main building. It felt incredible.
There is a nice play area for the kids and a small coffee. Not the usual luxury touristic place and we loved it. 20 min drive from Plettenberg.
In order to get there you have to drive literally through the property so you can see animals walking by your car. Be extremely careful.
Nice location to see a lot of different animals. We were able to see most of the big 5.
